Consolidation of Results

International Petroleum Economics Evaluation Software

A separate program, Petro$CON, which is part of the Petro$2 system, is used to combine the results from two or more Petro$2 runs in any way desired. This allows numerous types of study to be undertaken; eg to evaluate the incremental effect of changes to a development (such as adding more wells or a water flood project), estimate a company's total tax liabilities or calculate the incremental tax effects from a new development project.

Petro$CON uses the results files produced by Petro$2. There is no limit to the number of files which can be combined in a single run of Petro$CON; the first results file named is the primary file and the secondary files are combined with this in the sequence specified. A multiplication factor can be applied to each secondary file to build the consolidated or incremental results required. For example, a multiplication factor of -1.0 will result in the secondary file being subtracted from the running total while a factor of +0.25 will result in 25% of the cash flows from the secondary file being added. Petro$CON itself generates a new results file which can be used in subsequent consolidation runs and to generate graphics.

If the results files have compatible tax specifications, taxes can be re-calculated at any stage in the consolidation process and, if required, those tax calculations added to the pages to be output.
